Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
In Traditional Asian Medicine, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is recognized as an imbalance of Yin and Yang, affecting the Shen-spirit and the body’s flow of vital energy, or Qi.
Nutrition:
Studies indicate that nutrition, toxic exposure and allergies can all play a roll in ADHD. Dietary deficiencies of amino acids, vitamins, essential fatty acids, and blood sugar swings from excess sugar, food sensitivities, exposure to dyes and other food additives and overload of toxins are associated with ADHD.
Avoid:
*deep fried foods
*spicy or greasy foods
*sweet or sugary foods and drinks
*raw or cold foods and drinks
*Chocolate, monosodium glutamate, caffeine and foods with preservatives, dyes and flavors and possibly dairy and gluten.
Children will benefit from soups and cooked vegetables at every meal. Try to offer your child whole organic food as much as possible. Studies have also shown the benefits of adding fish oils, B vitamins, Phosphatidylcholine, calcium and magnesium to children’s diets.
Nature and Physical Exercise:
Reconnecting children with unstructured play outside or in the wilderness can help greatly. Nature Deficit Disorder, a term coined by Richard Louv in his book, Last Child in the Woods, refers to the trend of children spending less time outdoors, resulting in a wide range of behavioral issues. “Kids who don’t get nature-time are more prone to anxiety, depression and attention deficit problems.”
Studies have shown that regular aerobic exercise is helpful for children with symptoms of ADHD, to become more attentive, less moody and to improve academic skills. Ensure that your child has unstructured physical play as well as participation in team sports.
Treatments: Treatment focuses on creating a balance of Yin and Yang, nourishing the Qi and clearing any heat or Qi blockages affecting the Shen-spirit. NAET is used to clear any allergies or sensitivities that are contributing to disharmony. Once a pattern is diagnosed, Shonishin, Tui-Na massage, herbs and nutrition are used to restore a healthy balance, relaxation and well-being.
Your child may be sensitive or even allergic to specific foods or chemicals. Through NAET, Allergy Elimination Treatments, your child can become calmer and more focused. Gentle Tuina massage & Shonishin help to balance the immune and nervous system.
The whole family benefits:
Parents and siblings benefit by sharing these healthful lifestyle changes in nutrition, physical exercise and time in nature. These transformations create more balance in the life of the whole family.

Allergies
Allergies and Sensitivities
An allergy is an unusual sensitivity to something. The allergic substance, an allergen, is viewed by the immune system as a threat to the body’s well-being.
Allergens cause blockages in the energy pathways called Meridians, disrupting the normal flow of energy. The resulting allergic symptoms lead to a diminished state of health.
What is the treatment?
NAET® is used for symptoms arising from allergens. After neuromuscular testing, acupressure points are massaged in the presence of a given allergen, strengthening the body’s immune system, helping to alleviate future allergic reactions. Home treatments, nutrition and herbs are often recommended.
